Porto Centre

Living in the centre has of course it’s advantages. All bus lines and metro lines lead there; the night life for those of you who are party fans is great, just great. Porto’s downtown area is lively, packed with shops and bars and restaurants. There’s Piolho, the student’s café. You can walk around easily but if you study in faculties such as Engineering, Medicine you must take the metro or bus to go to Porto’s Northern area near Hospital São João. If you are going to attend the faculty of Sciencies then you need to take a bus to Campo Alegre area.

Studying and living nearby

If you prefer to live closer to the university, then you need to know where you are going to study. There are 3 main university areas in Porto. The central Polo 1, the northern Polo 2 and the western Polo 3. You can read more about them here University Areas in Porto.

Basically the thing is, if you are going to study in one of the faculties of Polo 2, then you can find accommodation nearby. Ideally choose your accommodation near the following public transports: Metro Line D, Bus lines: 204, 300, 301, 603, 803

If your faculty is in the centre than just live in the centre! If it is in Polo 3, you can choose you accommodation in the Boavista Area and Campo Alegre.

Porto an easy city

Porto is an easy city. It is not too big and you can easily walk towards many places. Buses and Metro are quite quick and will bring you anywhere in town or outside.
